
Women's Hockey Hosts Sacred Heart in Final Non-Conference Game of Season

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown women's hockey is back home for its final non-conference game of the season as the Bears play host to Sacred Heart on Wednesday (Jan. 8) at Meehan Auditorium. Puck drop against the Pioneers is set for 7 p.m.

SKATE SHAVINGS
• Brown returns home for the first time since December 1 as the Bears close out non-conference play with a matchup against Sacred Heart. The Bears are coming into the game having lost their last four games. Puck drop against the Pioneers is set for 7 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+.
• Brown lost its first two games of 2025 at the East/West Showcase, falling to No. 3 Minnesota and Bemidji State.
• This will be the first time since 2017 that Brown has played Sacred Heart. The Bears have won seven of the eight meetings with the Pioneers but lost the last matchup, 5-4 in Fairfield back in 2017.
SCOUTING THE PIONEERS
• Sacred Heart is 11-7-1 on the season and 10-3-1 in NEWHA play. The Pioneers tied their last game 1-1 against Post University.
• Prior to the tie against Post, Sacred Heart had lost four-straight games. The Pioneers lost two games to Quinnipiac, and games against UConn and Post.
• Sacred Heart is averaging 2.4 goals per game and giving up just 1.8 goals per contest. In it's 11 wins, Sacred Heart has allowed less than three goals in all but one game.
• Isabella Chaput leads Sacred Heart in both goals (8) and points (12).
• The Pioneers are third in the nation with seven shutouts on the season.

• Brown lost the last meeting with Sacred Heart but is 7-1-0 all-time against the Pioneers.

• Multiple Bears have already reached career-highs for season statistics halfway through the season.
• Senior Jess Ciarrocchi has a career-high four (5) goals, besting her top mark of three in her first year of collegiate hockey as a member of the Penn State team.
• After scoring just five (5) goals in her first season on College Hill, sophomore Ava DeCoste leads Brown with eight (8) goals.
HITTING THE CENTURY MARK
• Three Bears have hit the century mark for career-games played this season. Anna Shelden was the first to do so, hitting the mark against Yale on Nov. 17.
• Cameron Sikich was the second Bear to reach 100 career games play when the senior defender laced up the skates at Providence College (Nov. 30).
• Jess Ciarrocchi was the most recent Bear to skate in her 100th game as the West Chester, Pa., native played at Minnesota on Jan. 3.
MCDADI'S 50
• Junior left winger India McDadi recorded her 50th-career point over the weekend in Minnesota.
• McDadi collected a goal against the Gophers and her 50th point came on an assist against Bemidji State.
• McDadi leads the Bears roster with 33-career assists and is second overall in points behind Jade Iginla's 58. Cameron Sikich is next on the points list for the Bears with 40.
YOUTH MOVEMENT
• Brown is in the midst of a youth movement as the Bears are being led by the underclassmen with freshmen and sophomores accounting for 30 of the Bears 48 goals (62.5%) and 53.1 % of the team's assists.
• The three top goal scorers for Brown are underclassmen with sophomore Ava DeCoste leading the way with eight goals, followed by freshman Monique Lyons with seven and sophomore Margot Norehad with six.
NOREHAD BACK ON TRACK
• Margot Norehad has five points in her last six games, including a two-goal game against Holy Cross on Dec. 1. Norehad also has two games with assists during the streak.
• Before the streak, Norehad had gone five-straight games without a point after starting the year with points in five of the first seven games of the season.
EIGHT IS GREAT
• Brown's eight wins in the first half of the season are the second-most wins in program history before the winter break. It was the the most wins for the Bears since Brown won nine games in 2004-05 before the calendar turned to January.
ROAD WARRIORS
• Brown is in the midst of a long stretch of games away from home. The Bears have one home game (Sacred Heart) from Dec. 6 - Jan. 25 while playing eight games on the road.
• The stretch started with games at Rensselaer and Union and after playing Sacred Heart, Brown will travel for back-to-back road weekends.
• The Bears head to the North Country for games at St. Lawrence and Clarkson (Jan. 17-18) before heading south for games at Quinnipiac and Princeton (Jan. 24-25).
