Men's Water Polo Drops First Two Games of Bruno Classic

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown men's water polo (0-2) dropped their first two games of the season with losses to No. 14 Fordham and No. 7 Pacific to open up the Bruno Classic.
Ilias Stothart led all Bears with six goals on the day.
#14 FORDHAM 22, #20 BROWN 15
Brown dropped its opening game of the season to No. 14 Fordham by a scored of 22-15. The Bears were led on offense by Ilias Stothart, who scored four goals. Gabe Chang, William Griswold and Daniel Hadar each tallied a goal for Brown.
Fordham took control early, outscoring the Bears 7-0 in the first quarter and taking an 11-5 lead into the half as Brown scored five goals in the second.
The Rams extended their lead, outscoring Brown 7-3 in the third quarter.
Brown tallied seven goals in the final eight minutes but could not overcome the early deficit in the loss.
#7 PACIFIC 21, #20 BROWN 11
The middle quarters doomed Brown in a loss to No. 7 Pacific in the second game of the opening day of the Bruno Classic on Saturday.
Stothart, Hadar and Tymcyna all led Brown with two goals each.
The Bears trailed Pacific 4-3 after the first quarter but the Tigers outscored Brown 6-1 in the second quarter and 6-3 in the third quarter to take a 16-7 lead into the final frame. Brown picked up four goals in the final quarter but could not cut into the lead.
UP NEXT
Brown will play two more games on Sunday to close out the Bruno Classic. The Bears will take on California Baptist at 12:45 p.m. and Air Force at 4 p.m.
