
Men's Water Polo Begins Season With Bruno Classic

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown men's water polo begins its season with four games in the Bruno Classic over the weekend.
The Bears will kick off their season on Saturday (Sept. 7) taking on Fordham at 9 a.m. and Pacific at 6:45 p.m. The tournament will finish up for the Bears on Sunday (Sept. 8) against California Baptist at 12:45 p.m. and Air Force at 4 p.m.
Every game of the Bruno Classic will be streamed on ESPN+.
The Bears enter the season coming off a 2023 campaign where they posted a 21-8 record, marking the third 20-win season in the last four years. Brown has now reached 20 wins in 11 of the last 13 years and in 12 of the 16 seasons under head coach Felix Mercado.
Brown returns its top-four goal scorers from a season ago. Ilias Stothart led Brown last season with 92 goals. Followed by Gabe Chang (61), Jaxson Tierney (59) and Mate Tymcyna (45).
In goal, Kole Newman returns after collecting 113 saves last season.
