Men's Water Polo Wins Two on Sunday Behind Tymcyna's 11 Goals

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown men's water polo (2-2) bounced back with two wins on Sunday to close out the Bruno Classic. Brown started the day with a win over #17 California Baptist before closing the night with an overtime victory against Air Force.
Máté Tymcyna had a stellar day for Brown, netting 11 goals between the two games.
#20 BROWN 16, #17 CALIFORNIA BAPTIST 13
Brown overcame an early deficit to beat CBU as the Bears were led by six goals from Tymcyna in the win.
The bears trailed 4-2 after one quarter but exploded for seven goals in the second. Tymcyna scored three goals, while Goran Narancic, Gabe Chang, Dominik Balla and Ilias Stothart each scored one. Tymcyna's third goal of the quarter put Brown up 9-8 at halftime.
Brown would push its lead to 16-11 after another Tymcyna goal capped a 5-0 run and the Bears would hold on for the win over the Lancers for the first victory of the season.
#20 BROWN 15, AIR FORCE 14 (2OT)
The Bears closed out paly in the Bruno Classic with an overtime win over Air Force, 15-14. Tymcyna led Brown with five goals, followed by four from Stothart and three by Ramzi Megalli.
A six-goal second quarter put Brown up 8-7 at the break with both Tymcyna and Stothart finding the net twice during the frame.
Brown went up 12-10 with just under four minutes to play in the game but Air Force tied the game at 12 two minutes later. Stothart scored with 45 seconds on the clock but a goal with two seconds remaining by the Falcons sent the game to overtime.
Air Force scored first in the overtime frame but Tymcyna tied the game with 16 seconds left to send it to another overtime period. Tymcyna's fifth goal of the night with 2:08 left in the second overtime was enough for Brown to hang on for the win.
UP NEXT
Brown will be off until Sept. 14, when the Bears make the trip across the country for games against Biola at Long Beach State.
