Men’s Soccer Falls to UMass Amherst Saturday Afternoon

AMHERST, Mass.- The Brown men's soccer team fell to the UMass Amherst Minutemen in a Saturday afternoon matchup at Rudd Field.
It was a hard fought battle by both sides during the first half. The Bears totaled two shots during the half, with UMass totaling five. Both teams were unable to find the back of the net.
Goalkeeper Henrik Weiper made five crucial saves throughout the first half, keeping the Bears in the game.
The lone goal of the game was scored at 64:23 by UMass Amherst's Alec Hughes. The goal was a result of a free kick opportunity. This goal would ultimately win the game for the Minutemen.
Lorenzo Amaral put together a last minute attempt to give the Bears the equalizer, but was denied by goalkeeper Alex Geczy.
Brown closed out the game with a total of nine shots from Scott Gustafson, Jamin Gogo Peters, Mike Balleani, Gavin Tabije, Lorenzo Amaral, and Carlo Brown. Two of the shots landed on target.
The Bears will look to bounce back on Tuesday, September 17 when they host Boston University at Stevenson-Pincince Field at 7 p.m.
