Seven Track and Field Athletes Selected to NCAA Regional

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Seven members of the Brown track and field teams have been selected to compete in eight different events at the upcoming NCAA East First Round in Lexington, Kentucky.
The three men and four women are among the 48 qualifiers in their respective events to make it to the First Round, where the top 12 finishers in each event will qualify for a spot in the NCAA National Championships in Eugene, Oregon.
Zach Love – Long Jump (22nd/7.74m)
Chris White – Javelin (18th/68.89m)
John McNeil – Long Jump (29th/7.66m) and High Jump (37th/2.11m)
Lauren Yeboah-Kodie – Triple Jump (26th/12.82m)
Chiamaka Odenigbo – High Jump (30th/1.76m)
Jada Joseph – Triple Jump (39th/12.65m)
Rudecia Bernard – High Jump (20th/1.79m)
MEN
Love and White are both coming off Ivy championship performances, where Love won the long jump for his first career Heps title at 7.74 meters, which ranks No. 1 in the Northeast Region this year and is second all-time at Brown. Love will be looking to return to the NCAA Championships for the second straight season, after qualifying for nationals last year in the long jump. White captured his first Heps title in the javelin, throwing 65.48 meters, which is second in the region and tops in the Ivy League.
McNeil will represent Brown in both the long and high jumps. He finished in third place at Heps last weekend in the long jump and his seed mark of 7.66 meters ranks second in the league. His most recent high jump came at the UConn Northeast Challenge on April 12, where he registered his seed mark of 2.11m.
WOMEN
Yeboah-Kodie and Joseph both qualified for the First Round in the triple jump, where both rank in the top five in the Ivy League this season. Yeboah-Kodie took bronze in the triple jump at Heps (12.82m), while Joseph earned a fifth place showing at 12.17m. Bernard will represent the Bears in the high jump after winning both the indoor and outdoor Heps titles this season, tying her own PR for second all-time in program history at 1.79 meters, which leads the Northeast Region this spring. Odenigbo will also compete in the high jump after finishing third at Heps (1.72m).
TEAM RANKINGS
As a team, the Brown women have had success once again this spring, ranking 10th nationally in the high jump and 23rd in the triple jump in the USTFCCCA #EventSquad rankings. The men's squad is currently ranked 17th in the long jump.
The NCAA First Round will take place from May 22-25 on the campus of the University of Kentucky.
