GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Brown junior standout Julia Bedell competed on floor at the NCAA Regional meet in the Florida regional on Friday afternoon.
Bedell qualified for NCAA Regionals as an individual and finished with a score of 9.650 on the floor while rotating with Michigan State.
This marks marks the 24th time in program history a Brown gymnast will qualify for NCAA/AIAW Regional, and the first since Mei Li Costa qualified on bars in 2021. Bedell earned the qualifying honor after posting a National Qualifying Score (NQS) of 9.920, good for a tie for 37th in the nation.
Bedell's NQS on floor leads the GEC this season and is the lone gymnast in the conference to surpass the 9.900 mark. She holds eight of the top 11 floor scores in program history, including the school record of 9.950, which she has achieved twice, most recently on February 19. She scored at least a 9.900 in seven consecutive meets this season and has won the individual title on floor at eight meets.
On March 23, Bedell earned First Team All-GEC honors on both vault and floor after posting a 9.875 on floor to tie for third overall and tied for fourth overall on vault with a 9.800. Earlier this season, she defended her Ivy title on floor at the Ivy Classic with her score of 9.925. She earned All-Ivy honors on both vault and floor, giving her five total All-Ivy accolades for her career.
Bedell and the rest of the Bears will now set their sights on the GEC Championships next weekend, which will run from April 12-14 in West Chester, Pa.
