Gymnastics Set to Compete at USAG Nationals this Weekend

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown women's gymnastics team will look to end the season on a high note this weekend when they compete at the 2024 USA Gymnastics Collegiate National Championships in West Chester, Pa.
FORMAT
This weekend's championships will consist of the team semifinals on Friday, with Brown competing in the second session at 7 p.m. alongside Lindenwood and West Chester. The top two teams from both sessions will qualify for Saturday's team finals, which will take place at 7 p.m.
In addition, the top five finishers on each event from each of Friday's sessions in the team semis will also advance to the individual finals, which will take place on Sunday at 1 p.m.
USAG HISTORY
Brown is making its ninth appearance at USAG Nationals this season: 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2022, 2023, 2024.
The Bears have advanced to the team finals on three occasions: 2013, 2016, 2022.
NCAA REGIONALS
Junior Julia Bedell was the only Ivy League gymnast to compete at NCAA Regionals back on April 5 when she competed on floor at the Florida Regional in Gainesville, posting a score of 9.650.
TITLE DEFENSE
Julia Bedell will look to defend her USAG Collegiate national title on floor this weekend after winning last year's crown with a score of 9.888.
XING ON FLOOR
Angela Xing set a new career-high at 9.875 on beam at GECs, tying for fifth in program history.
2023 USAG RECAP
Last season, Brown finished third in the team semifinals at USAG Nationals. Four Brown gymnasts earned First Team All-America honors after qualifying for the event finals: Julia Bedell (vault and floor), Maya Davis (floor) and graduated seniors Ella Poley (bars) and Abby Contello (vault).
GEC CHAMPIONSHIPS
Brown is coming off a third place finish at the GEC Championships back on March 23, scoring 194.450 points and having four athletes combine to earn five All-GEC Championship team honors.
