Six Gymnasts Qualify for Individual Finals at USAG Nationals

WEST CHESTER, Pa. – The Brown gymnastics team posted a team score of 192.525 on Friday evening in the team semifinals at USAG Nationals. The event served as the final team competition of the 2024 season for the Bears, as Brown fell short of qualifying for Saturday's team finals.
Brown did have six athletes qualify for Sunday's individual finals by virtue of finishing in the top five in Friday's session.
INDIVIDUAL FINALS QUALIFIERS
Julia Bedell (vault), Angela Xing (vault), Asta-Sollilja Farrell (bars), Lauren Kramer (beam), Maya Davis (floor), Sophia Dewar (floor)
Davis highlighted the day for Brown by taking home first place on floor, the only gymnasts to score a 9.000 on any event.
Lindenwood took home first place in Friday's evening session with a score of 195.700, and West Chester took second at 193.975, qualifying both squads for the team finals.
Brown started off the meet with a 47.800 on beam, with Kramer leading the way for the Bears on beam by tying her career-high at 9.800 to finish in second place. Liza Marcus led off for Brown with a 9.775 to place tied for sixth, and McKenna Weiner went second and scored 9.700.
Next on floor, Brown posted a 48.925, led by Davis with a huge 9.900 to take home first place overall, tying her career-high that she previously set at the 2022 GEC Championships. Dewar followed with a 9.850 to finish tied for fourth, while both Kramer and Xing tied for 10th with a 9.800.
On vault, Julia Bedell led Brown with a 9.800 to finish in third place overall. Xing followed in a tie for fourth place at 9.750 and Sophia Dewar followed with a 9.725. Overall, the Bears posted a team score of 48.475 on vault.
Rounding out the meet on bars, Brown posted a team score of 47.325. Asta-Sollilja Farrell led Brown with a 9.825 to finish in a second place tie. Davis followed by scoring 9.750 in sixth place, and a 9.725 from Liza Marcus put her in a tie for seventh place.
The Bears will round out the season with Sunday's individual event finals, which are slated for a 1 p.m. start.
