Softball Plays Host to Stonehill for Wednesday Doubleheader

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown softball returns home for a midweek doubleheader against Stonehill on Wednesday.

The doubleheader will start at 3 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+.

SCOUTING BROWN

The Bears are coming off a 2-1 series win against Cornell over the weekend. Brown took the first two games against the Big Red before dropping the series finale that ended a five-game win streak for the Bears.
Brown hit .302 as a team in five games last week and both Dara English and Brianna Rodriguez hit .500. English was tied for the team lead with Jasmine Hsiao with six hits last week. English finished with three doubles and four RBI.
Rodriguez had five hits with four doubles and a team-high five RBI. Rodriguez posted a .900 slugging percentage and a team-best .683 on base percentage.
Lily Berlinger collected five hits and scored a team-best seven runs in the games against Rhode Island and Cornell.
In the circle, Brown posted a team ERA of 1.35 in five games. The Bears combined for three complete games and two shutouts.
Macy Borowski went 2-0 on the week with a 1.08 ERA in 13.0 innings pitched. Borowski struck out 11 batters and issued just two walks. The freshman struck out nine hitters in the meeting with Cornell on Monday.

SCOUTING STONEHILL

Stonehill is 9-24 overall and 2-13 in NEC play. The Skyhawks will play a doubleheader at Bryant on Tuesday before taking on Brown on Wednesday.
Stonehill has just two batters hitting over .300 on the year with Harper Sullivan leading the way at .353. Shannon Conte is hitting .314 and is leading the team in hits (27), doubles (6), home runs (3) and RBI (16).
Skylar Brandemarte has thrown the most innings for Stonehill with 86.0 innings pitched on the year. Brandemarte has a 5.05 ERA and Alexa Hospodar leads the pitching staff with a 4.75 ERA.
