No. 25 Women's Lacrosse Buries Bryant for Ocean State Cup

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – No. 25 Brown women's lacrosse won the Ocean State Cup over Bryant, 20-9, Wednesday night at Stevenson-Pincince Field.
The Bears improve to 4-1 on the season, while the Bulldogs fall to 4-3.
Senior Mia Mascone led Brown with eight goals and three assists. Junior Greta Criqui finished with four goals, while senior Leah Caputo had three goals, and senior Julia Ford had two. Junior Annie Burton finished with a goal and three assists.
Freshman Tara Reilly made her first appearance in the cage and tallied six saves.
After Bryant jumped ahead to an early 3-1 lead, Brown locked in and went on a 3-0 run with goals by Criqui, and two by Mascone for a 4-3 advantage with 4:59 left in the first. The teams then traded goals as Mascone and Ford finished the quarter to put the Bears up, 6-5.
Mascone, Criqui and Caputo started the second to make it a 9-5 lead at 4:58 to go. After a pair of goals by Bryant, Criqui capped off her hat trick with less than a minute to go in the half for a 10-7 advantage.
The third belonged to the home team as Brown shutout the Bulldogs, 7-0, in the quarter. Mascone had two goals, while Criqui, Burton, junior Jessie Bakes and Caputo each had one goal to boost the Brown lead to 17-7 heading to the fourth.
Caputo, senior Maddie Joyce and Mascone all scored in the fourth to finish things off.
Brown remains at Stevenson-Pincince Field for the second if its four-game homestand against Boston University at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
