Jones, Arnolie Combine for 51 Points in a Setback at Columbia

NEW YORK – Brown (13-8, 4-4 Ivy) erased a deficit midway through the third quarter behind streaky three-point shooting, but Columbia (16-5, 7-1 Ivy) was able to secure the 90-73 victory on Friday evening on Jonathan Schiller Court in Francis S. Levien Gymnasium.
Kyla Jones posted a game-high 27 points on 11-of-17 shooting, along with five assists and four rebounds, and Grace Arnolie collected 24 points – 15 from long distance – to go with five rebounds and four assists.
FIRST HALF
Following a 10-point Columbia lead after the opening quarter, the Bears outscored the Lions by four to go into the half trailing 38-32. Jones carried the offense with 17 points on 8-of-12 shooting, along with three assists, while Arnolie added five rebounds and Olivia Young collected two steals.
SECOND HALF
The Bears came out firing and the three-pointers continued to fall early as Arnolie recorded 14 points in the third quarter. Jones' three with 7:34 remaining tied the ballgame and the back and forth continued with Arnolie draining her fourth of the contest at the 5:14 marker.
The Lions closed the third on a 15-2 run for a 13-point cushion heading into the fourth and defeated the Bears in round one, 90-73.

The Bears return to the Pizzitola Sports Center to host No. 25 Princeton on Friday and Penn on Saturday.
