Women’s Soccer Set to Battle Columbia in Ivy League Tournament Semifinal

PRINCETON, N.J. - The Brown women's soccer team will take on second-seeded Columbia in the Ivy League Tournament semifinal hosted by Princeton on Friday, Nov. 8 kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
Rookie of the Year
Ella Weil of the Brown was named Ivy League Rookie of the Year while a total of five Bears earned All-Ivy League honors. Weil becomes the eighth player in program history to earn Rookie of the Year and the first since Brittany Raphino won the award in 2019.
Weil had a standout freshman season with the Bears as she led all freshmen with five goals and 13 points, both totals led the Bears. Weil's three assists ranked second on the Bears five goals ranked fifth in the Ivy League. Along with Rookie of the Year, Weil earned Second Team All-Ivy.
All-Ivy Honorees
Lexi Quinn and Joy Okonye earned First Team All-Ivy honors, both players appeared and started in all 15 games for the Bears.
Joining Weil on the Second Team was classmate Ayla Sahin, Naya Cardoza picked up the second Honorable Mention All-Ivy of her career.
Season Recap
Brown finished the regular season with a 6-4-5 overall record and a 3-2-2 record in Ivy League play. The Bears earned a 5-0-2 mark at Stevenson-Pincince Field this season and 1-4-3 away from home this season.
The Bears have had a flair for the dramatic this season as they have tied or taken the lead in a match four times in the final 15 minutes. Against Hofstra (Aug. 29) and Minnesota (Sept. 8), Brown earned draw's with goals in the last five minutes of both contests.
The Bears earned a 1-0 win over Cornell (Oct. 26) with a 78th minute goal from Naya Cardoza. In Brown's Ivy League opener against Harvard (Sept. 28), Ella Weil scored the game-winning goal in the 78th minute.
Brown went 3-2-3 in non-conference contests with wins over Central Connecticut Stats (Sept 5), Providence (Sept 12), and Northeastern (Sept. 19), the Bears scored a season-high six goals at Northeastern.
The Bears earned a 3-2-2 mark in Ivy League action with wins over Harvard (Sept. 28), Yale (Oct. 9), and Cornell (Oct. 26).
As a team, Brown recorded five shutouts this season with Bella Schopp as the goalkeeper for all five of the shutouts.
Tournament Field
The 2024 Ivy League Tournament will feature the same four teams that participated in the 2023 Ivy League Tournament. Top-seeded Princeton will take on fourth-seeded Harvard and Brown will take on second-seeded Columbia.

Brown is 18-13-8 all-time against Columbia, the two sides met in the Ivy League semifinal last season, the Lions earned a 2-1 overtime win over the Bears.
This season, the two sides played to a 1-1 draw, Ella Weil scored the lone Brown goal against the Lions. Brown is 4-4-1 under head coach Kia McNeill.
