PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown women's soccer senior Naya Cardoza and junior Joy Okonye continue to collect awards as the duo were named First Team All-New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association (NEWISA). Cardoza received the most votes for a defender.
Cardoza has now been named First Team All-Ivy League and United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division I All-East Region First Team while participating in the NEWISA Senior Bowl. In December, Cardoza was a member of Team Jamaica for World Cup qualifiers. Naya anchored Brown's defensive unit throughout her career at Brown and earned unanimous First Team All-Ivy honors in 2025. She was named to TopDrawerSoccer's Midseason Top 100 and earned a spot on TDS National Team of the Week in September. Cardoza started in all 17 of the Bears' games and tallied seven goals on the season, tied for the second most in the Ivy. She was named to the Ivy All-Tournament team and was a two-time conference defensive player of the week recipient.
Okonye led the Ivy League during the regular season with 19 total points and four game-winning goals, and the junior collected seven goals. She was previously named Ivy League Offensive Player of the Year and a unanimous First Team All-Ivy selection, her second consecutive First Team appearance. Joy earned First Team All-ECAC and United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division I All-East Region, and appeared on TopDrawerSoccer's Preseason Top 100 and Midseason Top 100. During the week of Sept. 22, Okonye received TDS National Team of the Week and Ivy Offensive Player of the Week after scoring two goals in the victory over Yale.
Brown is the only Ivy League program to have a First Team NEWISA selection. Below is the full list.
