Ella Weil Named Ivy League Rookie of the Year, Five Bears Earn All-Ivy Honors

PRINCETON, N.J. - Ella Weil of the Brown women's soccer team was named Ivy League Rookie of the Year while a total of five Bears earned All-Ivy League honors, the league announced on Wednesday.
This is the fifth consecutive season Brown has had at least five All-Ivy honorees.
Weil becomes the eighth player in program history to earn Rookie of the Year and the first since Brittany Raphino won the award in 2019. Weil had a standout freshman season with the Bears as she led all freshmen with five goals and 13 points, both totals led the Bears. Weil's three assists ranked second on the Bears five goals ranked fifth in the Ivy League. Along with Rookie of the Year, Weil earned Second Team All-Ivy.
Joy Okonye earned First Team All-Ivy honors after starting and appearing in all 15 games for Brown. The sophomore had two assists while seeing 978 minutes of action, Okonye was named Honorable Mention All-Ivy last season as a freshman.
Lexi Quinn joins Joy Okonye on the First Team as she also started and appeared in all 15 games for Brown, Quinn and the Brown back line recorded five shutouts during the 2024 season, Quinn had the assist on the game-winning goal in Brown's 1-0 win over Cornell (Oct. 26). The win over Cornell punched Brown's ticket to the Ivy League Tournament.
Ayla Sahin picked up her first-career All-Ivy honor as she joined classmate Ella Weil on the Second Team. Sahin appeared in all 15 games while earning 10 starting nods. The Barrington, R.I. native found the back of the net twice during the season and scored her first-career goal in Brown's 6-1 win over Northeastern (Sept. 19). Sahin also scored the game-winning goal against Yale (Oct. 9). Sahin also finished the season with two assists.
Naya Cardoza picked up the second Honorable Mention All-Ivy honor of her career after starting and appearing in 12 games this season. Cardoza played all 90 minutes in eight out of her 12 appearances. Cardoza's two goals this season came at opportune times for Brown, her first goal of the season was a game-tying tally at Minnesota (Sept. 8) in the 86th minute. Cardoza's second goal of the season came in the 78th minute against Cornell (Oct. 26), the game-winning tally sent the Bears to the Ivy League Tournament.
Rounding out the Brown All-Ivy honorees was goalkeeper Bella Schopp, who was named Academic All-Ivy. This is Schopp's second All-Ivy honor as she earned Honorable Mention All-Ivy during the 2022 season.
Brown will travel to Princeton, N.J. to take on Columbia in the Ivy League Tournament semifinals on Friday, Nov. 8, kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Fans can purchase tickets to the Ivy League Tournament here.
