Cross Country Sets Sights on NCAA Northeast Regionals
11/13/2024 8:55:00 PM | Men's Cross Country, Women's Cross Country
HOPKINTON, N.H. – The Brown Bears Cross Country teams are preparing for the NCAA northeast regional races at Hopkinton Fairgrounds on Friday, Nov. 15. The men will run a 10-kilometer race, and the women will run a 6-kilometer race.
The men's team finds themselves unranked in the latest USTFCCCA northeast rankings, while the women are currently ranked 11th in the region after earning fifth place at Ivy League Heps.
The top two finishing teams for the men's and women's races will automatically qualify for the NCAA national championships. 13 at-large spots will be given to additional teams based on head-to-head results during the regular season.
The Bears men's side finished 23rd of 37 in last year's regional event, while the women's side finished 16th of 37.
The top four individual runners that are not part of a qualifying or at-large team will secure themselves a place at the championships, as well. Returners Nimrit Ahuja (74th) and Olivia Fraga (80th) were Brown women's top two finishers in this event last year.
The women's 6K will begin at 11 a.m. EST, followed by the men's race at 12 p.m. EST.
