Women’s Soccer Suffers 2-0 Loss to Princeton in Ivy League Championship Game

PRINCETON, N.J. - The Brown women's soccer team suffered a 2-0 defeat to Princeton in the Ivy League Championship Game on Sunday at Roberts Stadium.
In the third minute, Ivy League Rookie of the Year Ella Weil had a chance to get the Bears on the board but her shot from the top of the 18-yard box trickled wide.
Brown controlled the tempo of the contest through the first 20 minutes, Joy Okonye fired Brown's second shot of the game but her shot was stopped by Princeton goalkeeper Tyler McCamey.
The Tigers broke the scoreless stalemate in the 34th minute, as Drew Coomans found the back of the net off of a Brown turnover. The Tigers took a 1-0 lead into the second half.
Bella Schopp recorded four saves in the opening 45 minutes, her fourth save of the half kept Brown within one goal heading into the intermission.
Princeton doubled its lead in the 47th minute on a goal from Lilly Bryant off of a volley. Nadja Meite had a chance to cut the Princeton advantage to 2-1 in the 61st minute but her shot was corraled by MaCamey.
Following the chance by Meite, Brown had just one more opportunity on net from Layla Shell, her shot was also stopped by McCamey.
As a team, the Bears had four shots (three on target) as Bella Schopp made six saves.
Bella Schopp, Lexi Quinn, and Gianna De Priest were named to the All-Tournament Team.
