Women’s Soccer Drops Conference Contest at Princeton
10/5/2024 4:04:00 PM | Women's Soccer
The loss ends a 28-game unbeaten streak for the Bears in Ivy League regular season play dating back to 2018.
"Today was a poor performance from our group from start to finish," head coach Kia McNeill said. "Princeton is a good team but they're not eight goals better than us and our team knows that. They came to play, and unfortunately we did not show up today. Everything about our performance was not reflective of who we are as a team. As hard as this loss was to swallow, we win as a team and lose as a team. We will reflect and bounce back for Yale on Wednesday."
Princeton opened the scoring in the 30th minute on a goal from Lily Bryant, the TIgers took a 1-0 lead into halftime. In the first half, the Bears generated six shots with three on target, goalkeeper Bella Schopp made two saves in the opening 45 minutes. The Bears also had four corner kick opportunities in the first half while holding the Tigers to two.
Princeton outscored Brown 7-0 in the final 45 minutes, the Bears earned three shots in the second half but were unable to find the back of the net.
Brown will be back in action on Wednesday, Oct. 9 when they welcome Yale to Stevenson-Pincince Field, kickoff is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on ESPNU. The game for the Bears against the Bulldogs will be Pride Night. Fans can purchase tickets here.
