Women's Hockey Begins ECAC Play Hosting Quinnipiac and Princeton

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown women's hockey (2-0-0) is home for the weekend with games against No. 9 Quinnipiac (6-2-0) and No. 13 Princeton (2-0-0).
The game against the Bobcats will be on Friday (Oct. 25) with puck drop set for 6 p.m. The game against the Tigers will be Brown's Alumni game and will be on Saturday (Oct. 26) at 3 p.m. Both games will be streamed on ESPN+.

LIGHTING THE LAMP
• Brown's offense came to play in the first two games of the season as the Bears scored 14 total goals in the wins over Franklin Pierce.
• The eight goals in the first game were the most since Brown scored 10 goals in a win at Sacred Heart on Dec. 7, 2011.
• The 14 goals are tied for the most in a two-game stretch with Dec. 7, 2011 and Jan. 4 2011 when the Bears scored 10 against Sacred Heart and four against Yale.
• The last time Brown scored six or more goals in back-to-back games came in the 2016-17 season when the scored six and seven goals in games against Sacred Heart.
WEEKLY HONORS
• Senior defender Cameron Sikich was named ECAC Defender of the Week after her performance in two games against Franklin Pierce.
• Sikich finished the two-game series with three goals and two assists.
• It was the first ECAC weekly honor for Sikich in her career.
STRONG START FOR THE BEARS
• Brown started 2-0-0 in a season for the first time since 2018-19 when the Bears beat Holy Cross in two games to start the year.
• That season, Brown then beat UConn 5-3 in the third game for the Bears' first 3-0-0 start since 2000-01.
CAPTAIN, MY CAPTAIN
• Junior Jade Iginla will wear the 'C' for the Bears this season after earning the captain vote by her teammates.
• Iginla led Brown in scoring with 27 points and 16 goals in her sophomore year. This comes after scoring 17 goals and totaling 23 points as a freshman.
• Iginla was also selected to participate on the Canadian National Women's Development Team this summer.
DONNING THE 'A'
• Three Bears were named assistant captains this season. India McDadi, Cameron Sikich and Anna Shelden all earned the honor from their teammates.
RETURNING FIREPOWER
• Brown boasts and impressive group of returners as Brown returns 87% (53-61 goals) of its goal scoring from a season-ago.
• The top-five goal scorers from last year are back, led by Iginla (16) and McDadi (9). They are followed by Margot Norehad (7), Sam Broz (6) and Ava DeCoste (5).
• The Bears also return their top-six point scorers from a season ago. Added to the top-five in goal scoring plus assists is Cameron Sikich who finished with 10 assists last campaign.
FINDING THE NETMINDING
• Brown will have to replace its mainstay between the pipes from a season ago as Kaley Doyle finished her Brown career last season.
• Doyle played 29 of Brown's 32 games last season and finished with a 2.25 goals against average.
• The returning goalies on Brown's roster - junior Mégane Pilon and sophomore Rory Edwards - have appeared in a combined 15 games. Pilon has made 12 appearances and Edwards 3.
• Brown also has freshmen Anya Zupkofska on the roster. Zupkofska played in Brown's 6-0 win over McGill in an exhibition to start the season.

• Quinnipiac enters the weekend ranked No. 9 in the most recent USCHO poll.
• The Bobcats are 6-2-0 on the season with losses at Northeastern and Providence earlier this year.
• Maya Labad is leading the way for Quinnipiac's offense with eight goals and 10 points.
• Former Bear, Kaley Doyle has started six games in net for Quinnipiac and holds a 4-2 record with a 1.19 goals against average and .949 save percentage.
INSIDE THE SERIES
• Brown earned a win over the Bobcats the last time these two teams met in Meehan Auditorium last season.
• This is the second-straight season Brown and Quinnipiac have opened up ECAC play against each other with Quinnipiac winning last year's contest 1-0 in Hamden.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
• Princeton is 2-0-0 on the season and ranked 13th in the most recent USCHO poll.
• The Tigers swept Robert Morris in two road contests over the weekend to start their season.
• Sarah Paul leads the Tigers with five goals, while Mackenzie Alexander and Angelina DiGirolamo each had five points in the opening weekend.
• For her effort to start the season, DiGirolamo was named ECAC Rookie of the Week last week.

• The series has been close with Princeton the last five matches as the Bears are 1-2-2 against the Tigers, including a 1-1 tie in last season's matchup inside Meehan Auditorium.
