No. 18 Men's Water Polo Cruises Past Mercyhurst to Close the Weekend

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – No. 19 Brown men's water polo (11-6) finished its weekend of play with a loss to No. 13 San Jose State and a win over Mercyhurst. The Bears lost 18-11 to the Spartans before beating Mercyhurst 15-4 to close out the day.
SAN JOSE STATE 18, BROWN 11
Ilias Stothart was the leading scorer for Brown with three goals and William Griswold and Máté Tymcyna each had two tallies.
Brown led 5-2 after the first quarter but the Spartans tied the game at seven for halftime. Brown was outscored 11-4 in the second half as San Jose State pulled away.
BROWN 15, MERCYHURST 4
Stothart scored three goals for Brown in a big win over Mercyhurst to close out the day. Four other Bears, Goran Narancic, Mac Berry, Theo Pliner and Roberto Serrano all scored twice.
Brown jumped ahead 5-2 after the first quarter and used a 4-0 second quarter to take control of the game, leading 9-2 at the break. The Bears won each of the second half quarters by scores of 3-1.

Brown makes the trip out west to play in the Julian Fraser Memorial Tournament hosted by Santa Clara next weekend.
