Men's Crew Begins Fall Season with Strong Start at Head of the Housatonic

The Bears had five eights competing in the Collegiate Men's Division, with two finishing in the top three of their event. This marks a program best for the Bears at the Head of the Housatonic.
"We had a good team performance today. With two crews finishing in the top three of the IRA event, it was the best result the program has had at the Head of the Housatonic," Head Coach Paul Cooke '89 said. "The effort this fall by everyone on the team has been outstanding. I'm really pleased with the way the team is forming by the engagement and focus by the athletes at practices every day. The quality and hard work showed in the results today."
The Brown 'A' crew finished in second place with a time of 12:33.1. Yale finished ahead of the Bears with a time of 12:29.1 earning them first place. Brown's 'B' boat finished right behind with a time of 12:45.7.Â
The third Brown boat posted a time of 12:59.8, putting them in eighth place. Columbia and Yale's 'B','F',and 'C' crews finished ahead of Brown respectively.Â
Brown 'D' and 'E' crews wrapped up the regatta in 16th and 18th place. Brown's 'D' boat finished with a time of 13:28.6, and the 'E' boat finished at 14:00.8. Yale's 'E' boat separated the two, coming in 17th place. Massachusetts Maritime's boats rounded out the standings in 19th and 20th place.Â
Brown men's crew will be back in action on October 19-20 when they compete at the Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston, Massachusetts.Â
