Women's Basketball Rolls Past Dartmouth in Ivy Opener

HANOVER, N.H. – Brown women's basketball (10-4, 1-0 Ivy) cruised to a 65-39 win over Dartmouth (5-7, 0-1 Ivy) to start Ivy League play on Saturday. Three Bears finished in double-figures in the victory.
Isabella Mauricio led Brown with 16 points, hitting a team-high four threes. Grace Arnolie added 13 points, hitting three threes and Ada Anamekwe tallied 10 points with five rebounds.
Kyla Jones filled the statsheet with nine points, eight rebounds and six assists. Alyssa Moreland had her third-straight game with double-figure rebounds, pulling down 13 and adding six points.
Olivia Young added six points off the bench with Mady Calhoun adding three and Amiya Hopkins scoring two.
The Bears shot 44% from the floor, the best shooting for Brown in its last four games, and went 10-for-26 (38.5%) from three. Brown was 9-for-17 from three in the first and third quarters.
Brown owned the glass, outrebounding Dartmouth 39-26 with Moreland and Jones leading the way for Brown. The Bears also forced 18 turnovers by the Big Green, leading to a 17-6 advantage in points off turnovers.
Brown never trailed in the game after taking an early 6-0 lead behind threes from Arnolie and Mauricio. Dartmouth tied the game at 10 but Brown responded with a three from Mauricio, a steal and layup by Moreland and a three from Young to go back up 18-10. A jumper by Mauricio gave Brown a 20-13 lead after one quarter.
The Bears answered a Dartmouth run that cut the lead to five with a 12-2 run. During the run, Arnolie had a steal and a layup, followed by Jones picking up three-straight layups coming off Dartmouth turnovers. Brown outscored Dartmouth 12-2 in the paint in the quarter and took a 34-21 lead into the half.
Brown quickly pushed its lead to 19 with a run that started with an Arnolie three. After two free throws by Moreland, a basket by Anamekwe capped the run. Back-to-back threes by Mauricio and Young made the score 50-28 and Mauricio added a late three to put Brown up 53-29 with then minutes left.
Calhoun's three put Brown up 28 and the Bears largest lead came after a basket by Hopkins with two minutes left.
The win is the fourth-straight win for Brown over the Big Green, tying Brown's largest win streak in the series.

Brown will remain on the road for its next Ivy League game when it plays at Yale on Saturday (Jan. 13).
