POTSDAM, N.Y. – Freshman Max Scott scored twice, including the overtime game-winner, to lift the Brown Bears (8-11-1, 6-7-0 ECAC) to a 3-2 road win over the Clarkson Golden Knights (12-9-1, 6-3-1 ECAC) Saturday afternoon at Cheel Arena.

It marks Brown's second overtime win of the season and first win over Clarkson since the 2015-16 season. Brown picks up two ECAC league points with the win.

"That was a great win against one of the elite teams in the county," said head coach Brendan Whittet '94. "We needed points and found a way this afternoon. It wasn't always pretty but the grit and tenacity we played with allowed us to get a win at a place that is extremely difficult to play in."

Clarkson took an early lead with a transition goal as Carter Rose beat Lawton Zacher (29 saves) from the slot with his first career goal. Ayrton Martino found Rose with a drop pass with Kaelan Taylor picking up the secondary assist. 7:34 into the period.

Tony Andreozzi tied the game 3:15 into the second period. The junior picked up the puck in the neutral zone and skated past the Clarkson defensemen with speed before wiring a shot past Austin Roden (17 saves).

Late in the period, freshman Max Scott tallied his sixth goal of the season on the power play to give the Bears a 2-1 lead. Tyler Kopff moved the puck below the goal line to Alex Pineau, who found Scott at the faceoff dot for the quick strike.

Noah Beck tied the game with 3:49 remaining in regulation on the Golden Knights' third power play chance of the night. Martino and Anthony Romano picked up the assists on the goal.

Just 30 seconds into the overtime period, Pineau connected with Scott on a stretch pass from the Brown zone to spring the San Jose native on Roden, and his shot beat the goaltender to give Brown the win. Ryan St. Louis also assisted on the overtime goal.

GAME NOTES

Scott picks up his first multi-goal game and third multi-point game of the season.
Pineau pushed his point streak to four games with his two-assist game, his second multi-point game of the season.
Clarkson finished the game with a 31-20 edge in shots on goal. Zacher was stellar throughout, notably stopping all 14 shots faced in the second period.
Brown had the edge at the faceoff dot, winning 28-of-50 (56%) of the draws.
Both teams had a power play goal with Brown finishing 1-for-4 compared to a 1-for-3 night for Clarkson.

Brown has a bye week upcoming followed by a pair of home games to open the month of February, taking on Rensselaer (7-14-1, 4-7-0 ECAC) on Friday (Feb. 2) and Union (10-11-1, 5-5-1 ECAC) on Saturday (Feb. 3). Both games are set for 7 p.m. at Meehan Auditorium. Click here to purchase tickets.
