1/19/2024 8:02:00 PM | Women's Ice Hockey
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown women's hockey fell 4-0 to No. 10 St. Lawrence Friday night at Meehan Auditorium.
The Bears drop to 8-11-1 overall and 4-8-1 in the ECAC, while the Saints, who scored in each period, improve to 17-8-0 and 10-3-0 in the conference.
Brown killed a pair of St. Lawrence power plays. The Saints came into the game ranked second in the nation in power play goals.
"When we talked earlier today I said we would learn a lot about our team now that we're getting back into conference play," said Head Coach Melanie Ruzzi. "We did a good job killing the power play against one of the top units in the country and we had some good chances. Doyle played well tonight, give credit to St. Lawrence they created a lot on offense. We have to find ways to finish and create more offense."
Brown had more shots on goal in the first with 11 compared to nine for St. Lawrence. The Saints struck first at the 16:27 mark of the period on a goal by senior Anna Segedi with assists from juniors Sarah Marchand and Abby Hustler.
St. Lawrence made it a 2-0 game at 16:13 in the second when sophomore Kennedy Wilson scored from grad student Mae Batherson and senior Rachel Bjorgan.
The Saints' third goal of the night was short-handed at 10:37 in the third from Bjorgan assisted by Hustler. Their final of the night was by senior Aly McLeod from Hustler and sophomore Katina Duscio.
Brown is back on the ice at 3 p.m. on Saturday against No. 3 Clarkson.
