AUSTIN, Texas – Two Bears – senior Casey Chan from women's fencing and junior Eliza Atwood from women's crew – picked up CSC Academic All-America honors, announced by CSC on Thursday.
Chan, a chemistry concentrator, earns First Team At-Large honors after being named to the Third Team a season ago while Atwood, an environmental science concentrator, earns Second Team At-Large honors for the first time in her career.
Both student-athletes earned CSC Academic All-District honors in May.
That this year's NCAA Championships, Chan finished 15th overall and was awarded the prestigious NCAA Elite 90 Award, given in recognition of the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the national championship level in his or her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers.
Atwood competed this season in the Second Varsity 8 and helped that boat to a first place finish at the Eastern Sprints and the top spot in the Petite Finals at the NCAA Championships. Atwood and the women's crew team finished seventh overall in the program's 26th consecutive appearance at NCAA's.
