Baseball to Face Holy Cross Tuesday in Final Non-League Matchup

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown baseball team will start a season-ending four-game road trip this week, beginning with its final non-league matchup of the year on Tuesday evening at Holy Cross.

SCOUTING BROWN
- Brown took two out of three games this weekend from Dartmouth, which included an 11-3 win, a late 4-3 comeback win and a 2-1 defeat.
- Freshman DH Mika Petersen moved from fourth to second in the Ivy League in batting average over the weekend (.375), going 10-for-16 with four extra base hits in four games last weekend. He enters Tuesday carrying a 20-game hitting streak and a 22-game on-base streak.
- Senior outfielder Derian Morphew is second on the team in batting (.312) and ranks third in the league with 15 doubles. He leads the team with 25 RBIs.
- Morphew has a hit in 20 of his last 23 games and has a hit in 21 of those games.
- Freshman shortstop DJ Dillehay has reached base in 21 of his 22 games this season, and has a hit in 18 of his 22 games. He is third on Brown with a .310 batting average, third in slugging percentage (.437) and fourth in on-base percentage (.396). He delivered the walk-off hit against Harvard on April 22.
- Senior catcher Jacob Burley is hitting .303 with 16 walks and 14 RBIs.
- Ryan Marra went 5-for-12 against Dartmouth, including hitting two home runs in the series opener, and delivering the game-winning two-run single in the seventh inning of game two over the weekend.
- The Crusaders are coming off a three-game sweep at the hands of Bucknell over the weekend, dropping two games 4-2 and 7-5 on Saturday, and another 7-5 defeat on Monday afternoon in Pennsylvania.
- Jack Toomey (.316) and Oliver Brown (.326) lead Holy Cross in hitting. As a team, HC is hitting .258 this season.
- Toomey has hit seven homers this season to lead the team and is also first in RBIs (35). He is tied with Sean Scanlon for the team lead with 17 doubles.
- Scanlon and Connor Cooney have totaled 34 walks this season, which is tied for second on the team behind Jake McElroy (35). The trio ranks as the most patient hitters in the Patriot League, leading the league in walks.
