4/8/2023 3:56:00 PM | Women's Lacrosse
HANOVER, N.H. – The Brown women's lacrosse team fell to Dartmouth 16-9 Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Bears fall to 5-6 on the year and 2-2 in Ivy play, while the Big Green improve to 3-7 and 1-3.
Brown opened the game extremely well, with two goals by Mia Mascone sandwiched around a strike by Claire Jeschke to give the Bears a 3-0 lead after one quarter. But the momentum swung Dartmouth's way in the second as the Big Green went on an 8-0 run to finish the half and take the 8-3 lead into the break.
Dartmouth kept the pressure on in the third quarter, outscoring Brown 6-2 in the frame with the only goals by the Bears coming from Carly Camphuasen and Jackie Mason.
Brown got things going again in the fourth, outscoring the Big Green 4-2 in the final frame, but the deficit was too large to make up as the Bears would eventually fall by seven.
On the day, Mascone led Brown with three goals, while Mason contributed two and one assist. Maddie Joyce also scored twice for the Bears and Carly Camphausen scored once and assisted once. Jeschke recorded one goal for Brown and Annie Burton had one assist.
Paige Gillen led the Bears with seven draws and Lydia Bongiorno did the same with three caused turnovers.
Both teams were 19-for-21 on the clear on the day, while Dartmouth won 18 draws to Brown's 12.
Brown will stay on the road next week as they travel to Princeton for a 12 p.m. matchup on Saturday, April 15.
