Men's Lacrosse Travels to Dartmouth for Season Finale

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown Bears (5-8, 1-4 Ivy League) close out the 2023 season this Saturday with an Ivy League matchup against the Dartmouth Big Green (6-5, 1-4 Ivy League) at Scully-Fahey Field in Hanover, New Hampshire.
Saturday's game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. and will stream on ESPN+.

SCOUTING THE BEARS
- Brown enters the weekend with a 5-8 overall record and 1-4 Ivy League mark.
- The Bears look to finish the season on a high-note and pick up their second conference win of the season.
- Offensively, Brown averages 12.31 goals per game to rank fifth in the Ivy League and 33rd in the NCAA. Devon McLane leads the team with 20 assists and 46 points. His 26 goals rank second on the team to sophomore Aidan McLane (28). After the McLanes, four Bears have at least 20 points and another three have at least 10 points this season.
- Brown's man-up offense has 16 goals in 42 attempts (.381) to rank fourth in the conference and 35th in the nation alongside Dartmouth. The Bears are 7-for-8 on EMOs over the last four games.
- Defensively, Brown allows 13.38 goals per game to rank sixth in the conference. Goalie Connor Theriault holds a .501 save percentage and 13.24 goals against average in 13 starts.
- Theriault's 13.08 saves per game are tied for 12th-most in the NCAA alongside Quinnipiac's Nick DiMuccio.
- Brown's man-down defense clicks at .594 (19-for-32) to rank fourth in the Ivy League.
- Matthew Gunty leads the Ivy League and ranks ninth in the nation at the faceoff X with a .620 win-rate. The Bethesda, Maryland native enters the weekend 184-for-297 on the season with 80 ground balls. His 6.67 ground balls per game rank 24th in the nation.
- Brown's .881 clear percentage ranks fourth in the conference and 26th in the NCAA.
- Dartmouth enters the 2023 season finale with a 6-5 overall record and 1-4 Ivy League mark.
- Dartmouth looks for its sixth win of the season, which would mark the most since the Big Green posted seven wins in 2008.
- The Big Green also look for their second Ivy win of the season, which would match the most since Dartmouth went 2-4 under Andy Towers in 2010.
- As a team, Dartmouth averages 11.73 goals per game and are led by Colin McGill, who leads the team in goals (27), assists (14), points (41), and shots on goal (51).
- After McGill, four players have 20 or more points this season.
- Dartmouth's man-up offense has 16 goals in 41 attempts (.381) to rank in the middle of the NCAA rankings.
- Defensively, Dartmouth allows 14.55 goals per game to rank near the bottom of the NCAA. Between the pipes, Sam Cooper holds a .429 save percentage and 13.89 goals against average in nine starts.
- The Big Green's man-down defense has allowed 19 goals in 33 attempts (.576) to rank outside the top-50 in the NCAA.
- Dartmouth's enters the weekend with a .828 clear percentage to rank 59th in the nation.
- Mitchell Myers holds a 588 win-rate at the faceoff X this season to rank second in the Ivy League and 16th in the NCAA.
- Saturday marks the 65th meeting between Brown and Dartmouth in a series dating back to 1926.
- Brown holds a 45-19 all-time series record against Dartmouth and look to capture its 14th straight win over Dartmouth dating back to 2008.
- Senior faceoff specialist Matthew Gunty continued his stellar season with an 18-for-28 effort (.643) against Cornell (Apr. 22).
- Gunty went 16-for-33 against Bryant (Apr. 25) to snap a 10-game streak with at least a 50% win-rate.
- In 2023, he holds a .620 win-rate (184-297) at X along with 80 ground balls.
- He leads the Ivy League and ranks ninth in the Ivy League in faceoff percentage.
- His 6.67 ground balls per game rank 24th in the nation.
- Gunty is 18 ground balls shy of cracking the program's top-10.
- He enters the weekend with 199 career ground balls and looks to become the 14th Bear in program history to reach the 200-ground ball milestone.
- McLane is eight goals shy and six assists shy of cracking the program's top-20 in each category. He enters the weekend with 75 career goals and 44 career assists.
