Track and Field Earns Second Place Team Finishes at Mark Young Invitational

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Brown men's and women's track and field teams split between a pair of meets on Saturday with the LSU Alumni Gold Invitational, and then Yale's Mark Young Invitational. Both the men's and women's teams earned second place finishes overall on a cool and breezy day at Yale.
LSU ALUMNI GOLD INVITATIONAL
In Baton Rouge, junior John McNeil took third place in the long jump by clearing 2.04 meters, and Zach Love finished sixth in the long jump at 7.40 meters, a new PR that ties him for seventh on the school's all-time top performer's list. Love also set a new personal record in the 100 meter dash, finishing in 10.94 seconds.
On the women's side, Anjoli Mathew sprinted her way to the No. 3 spot on the program's all-time performers list with a 1.52-second PR of 1:00.30 in the 400 meter hurdles. Lauren Yeboah-Kodie competed in the 100m hurdles (14.42) and triple jump (12.78m), and Chiamaka Odenigbo leaped 12.24m in the triple jump.
MARK YOUNG INVITATIONAL
MEN
Marcus Gillespie set a new PR by 0.12 seconds on the 110m hurdles, moving up to No. 5 on the program's list following his first place performance. He also set a new PR of 11.00 in second place of the 100 meter dash.
JonCarlo Migaly set a new PR and scored points for Brown in the 200 meters (22.93). Daniel Sarisky PR'ed in the 400 meters at 50.26 and Jesse Edelstein led a group of four Brown point-scorers in the 800 meters (1:55.30).
Geordie Young picked up a point and scored in the 1500m with a new PR of 3:56.23. Evan Sherman led a Bears' sweep of the podium in the 5,000 meters in 14:39.50.
Pearson Brooks set a PR in the 400m hurdles (56.54).
In the jumps, Sidarth Raman cleared 12.99 meters to win the high jump, Sam Hurcomb won the long jump (7.11m) and Frank Monahan-Morang took third in the long jump (6.99m). Joseph Oduro won the triple jump with a new PR mark of 15.01m.
In the throws, Ronan Folan took second in the discus (43.84m), while Liam Capozza won the hammer with a new PR of 54.86m.
WOMEN
In the sprints, junior Emma Gallant led Brown in third place of the 100 meters with a new PR (12.11), and took home the individual title in the 200 meters (24.86).
In the 100m hurdles, Brooke Ury and Makaya Fofana both landed on the podium in the 12-person race with Ury coming just 0.02 seconds shy of a new PR in 14.07 seconds to take home the gold, with Fofana finishing in 14.69 for third place. Adrienne Usher took fourth place with a new PR (15.09). Amy Willig took first place in the 400 hurdles, setting a new personal-best at 1:02.67.
Fofana also had a strong showing in the long jump, PR-ing in second place (5.66m) and Daryn Davis took first place in the triple jump at 11.64 meters.
Brown will compete next weekend at the UMass Pre-Conference Meet on Saturday, April 29 in Amherst, Mass. in the team's final tune-up before the Ivy League Heptagonal Championships.
