
No. 7 Men's Crew Posts Two Victories at No. 5 Dartmouth

FAIRLEE, Vt. – No. 7 Brown men's crew won two races Saturday morning against No. 5 Dartmouth on Lake Morey in Fairlee, Vermont.

Coming away with victories were the Second Varsity 8 and the Third Varsity 8. Dartmouth took the First Varsity 8 to claim the Atalanta Cup, along with the Fourth Varsity 8 and the Fifth Varsity 8.
"The rivalry between Brown and Dartmouth has been heating up over the past few years and all of the races today were hard fought," said Paul Cooke, Men's Crew Head Coaching Chair.

The 2V8 won by over three seconds with a time of 6:00.14, ahead of Dartmouth's 6:03.58. In the 3V8, the Bears boat posted a winning time of 6:03.67, which was in front of the Big Green's crew of 6:07.1.
"The second and third Varsity crews have been putting in inspiring performances. The victories in these events this weekend give the team a lot of energy and self belief."

Dartmouth's 1V8 crossed the finish line in 5:44.39, ahead of Brown's time of 5:49.88 to claim the Atalanta Cup. The Big Green also won the 4V8 in 6:19.65 in front of Brown's 6:23.64 and took the 5V8 with a winning time of 6:34.84 to the Bears' 6:41.79.
"The Dartmouth Varsity was impressive and we need to work hard, ask some questions and come up with answers," continued Cooke. "As coaches, it's important that we identify the key factors we need to build on as we prepare for the championships and then focus in on those improvements. It was a strong team effort. All of the crews raced very hard today."
