Softball Heads to Penn for Three-Game Series

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown softball hits the road for its final Ivy League road trip this weekend. The Bears will play a three-game series at Penn with two games on Saturday and a single game on Sunday.
The first pitch of each day is set for 12:30 p.m. and all three games will be streamed on ESPN+.
ABOUT BROWN
- Brown is 10-22 on the season and 6-9 in Ivy League play. The Bears are looking to play their way into the Ivy League Tournament with two series left in the season.
- Brown is coming off a weekend where the Bears went 1-2 against Dartmouth, earning a walk-off 6-5 win in the series finale.
- Julia Gubner is on a team-high eight game hitting streak and is now hitting .284 on the season with 19 hits, including three doubles and a home run.
- Moe Kastens continues to lead the Bears with a .328 batting average and has 19 hits with six doubles.
- Laurel Moody and Dara English are tied with a team-leading six multi-hit games. Moody is tops on the team with 24 hits and is hitting .286. English has 23 hits and is hitting .271.
- Jasmine Hsiao, who went 3-for-3 with a double, two home runs and four RBI against Dartmouth in the Sunday game, leads Brown in runs scored (17), doubles (7), home runs (6) and RBI (13). 13 of Hsiao's 20 hits have been for extra bases as the freshman is slugging .592.
- Alexis Guevara continues to lead the bears with a 2.37 ERA. The sophomore holds a 7-8 record with two shutouts in 100.1 innings pitched. She has 77 strikeouts to 31 walks and is allowing opponents to hit just .256.
BROWN IN THE IVY LEAGUE
- Kastens is fifth in the Ivy League during league play in batting average (.400) and 10th in slugging (.600).
- Hsiao leads the league with 10 walks during league play and is second in home runs (5), third in runs scored (11) and eighth in RBI (10).
- Guevara leads all Ivy pitchers in innings pitched (62.2) and is second in strikeouts (42), fourth in ERA (2.01) and fifth in opposing batting average (.254).
ABOUT PENN
- Penn is 5-23 on the season and 2-13 in Ivy League play. The Quakers are coming off a midweek win against Drexel on Wednesday. Penn's only Ivy wins came against Columbia and Princeton.
- Sarah Schneider leads Penn in almost every offensive category. Schneider is tops on the team in average (.327), hit (36), runs (18), doubles (11), home runs (5) and RBI (17).
- As a team, Penn is hitting .235 but is allowing opponents to hit .342.
- The pitching staff for Penn, holds a team ERA of 5.02. Kelly Zybura has thrown 113.1 innings this season and is 3-17 on the year with a 5.00 ERA. No pitcher on the staff has an ERA less than 3.90.
LAST SEASON
- Brown only won one game against Penn in the three-game series against the Quakers last season. The lone win was a 9-3 victory in the second game of the series.
