Softball Begins Busy Week With Tuesday Doubleheader Against Bryant

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown softball begins a busy week with a doubleheader against Bryant at home on Tuesday. It begins a stretch of seven games in six days for the Bears, capping off with a weekend series at Harvard.
The week begins with a 2 p.m. doubleheader against Bryant and the Brown Softball Field on Tuesday. On Thursday, Brown will travel to Rhode Island for a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m. The week ends with a doubleheader at Harvard on Saturday and a single game on Sunday.

ABOUT BROWN
- The Bears went 1-2 against defending champion Princeton. Brown earned a 4-0 win as part of a split of a doubleheader on Sunday.
- Alexis Guevara was stellar in the circle for the Bears throwing 14.1 innings, allowing just one run and striking out nine. Guevara leads the Bears and is second in the Ivy League with a 2.30 ERA. Guevara has 46 strikeouts in 51.2 innings pitched.
- Jasmine Hsiao tore the cover off the ball, going 3-for-4 with two home runs and a double, while driving in all four runs for the Bears in the win over Princeton. Hsiao now leads the team in batting average (.302), runs scored (10), doubles (4), home runs (4), slugging percentage (.674) and on base percentage (.434).
- Hsiao is currently on a six-game streak of reaching base, tied for the longest on the team this season.
- Dara English is tied with Hsiao for the team lead in hits (13). English is hitting .289 on the year and is also tied with Hsiao for second on the team in RBI (6), one behind Meghan Gormley's team-leading seven RBI.
ABOUT BRYANT
- Bryant is 7-13 overall and 0-2 in America East play after dropping two games to UMBC over the weekend. The Bulldogs lost 1-0, being no-hit and 6-2 in the series. The Bulldogs had won three-straight before the weekend.
- Bryant is hitting .248 as a team this season and is allowing opponents to hit .298 on the year. The Bulldogs pitching staff holds a .298 ERA.
- Aleix Hudson (.327) and Jenna Gardner (.314) are tops on the team in hitting. Hudson leads the team with 17 hits and Gardner has a team-best five home runs.
- Last season, Brown swept Bryant in a doubleheader, winning 3-2 in eight innings and 13-1.
ABOUT RHODE ISLAND
- Rhode Island is 6-17 on the year and 3-3 in Atlantic 10 play. The Rams will play Providence on Wednesday in one game before hosting Brown. Rhode Island is 4-5 in their last nine games, alternating wins and losses.
- Two batters are hitting over .300 for URI with Skyler Rapuano leading the way at .362. As a team, Rhode Island is hitting .252 but only has two home runs and has been outscored 125-56 on the season.
- The pitching staff holds an ERA of 5.29 with Liz Lynchard holding the best ERA at 4.32. Lynchard has struck out 66 batters to just 17 walks but is allowing opponents to hit .304 on the year.

- Harvard comes in leading the Ivy League in both batting average (.299) and ERA (2.60). Allison Heffley (.403) and Finley Payne (.383) are 1-2 in the league in batting average.
- Katie Arrambide (1.79) and Anna Reed (2.75) are first and third in the league in ERA.
- Last season, Harvard won two of three games in the series against Brown with all three games being decided by one run. Harvard took game one 2-1 and game three 4-3 in eight innings. Brown won game two of the series 1-0.
