Odenigbo Earns Two All-Time Top 10 Marks at Crimson Elite

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Brown junior Chiamaka Odenigbo tallied a pair of top-four marks all-time in program history on Friday at the Crimson Elite and Multi, hosted by Harvard. Odenigbo's pentathlon scores moves her to fourth all-time and her high jump sits third on the program's list. Junior Brooke Ury also moved into seventh all-time on the 60 meter hurdles list on a day where Brown athletes set five marks in the top-10 all-time.
The men's squad had eight podium finishers, plus two sprint times that placed in the top six all-time in program history including juniors Jack Kelley in the 400 meters and Marcus Gillespie in the 60 meter hurdles.
MEN
Gillespie set new personal-bests in both the 60m dash and the 60m hurdles, including finishing sixth overall in both the prelims and finals of the hurdles. His prelim time of 8.12 seconds vaulted him into the top 10 in program history, tying for fifth all-time with a mark from 1999.
Kelley and Jason Estrada led the way by finishing one-two in the 400 meters, with Kelly breaking the tape in 48.42 and Estrada earning silver in 49.05 to lead the field of 12 runners. Both marks were personal records and Kelley's time ranks him No. 6 on the school's all-time list, moving him ahead of a time from 1980.
Brown swept the top four spots in the mile with junior Evan Sherman leading the way for the victory in 4:14.66, followed by Nate Price, Geordie Young and Justin Hickey.
Brown added another podium finish in the high jump, with senior Sidarth Raman taking third place after clearing 2.06 meters on his third and final attempt. Raman also landed in third place in the triple jump, just three centimeters behind Joseph Oduro (14.59m) in second place. Senior Altan Mitchell turned in a seventh place showing in the long jump of 7.10 meters.
WOMEN
Odenigbo took sixth place overall in the pentathlon and set two marks in the top 10 all-time in program history. Her 3,660 points in the pentathlon rank fourth all-time and sit 49 points ahead of her previous PR. In the pentathlon, she set new PRs in three individual events, including a first place finish in the high jump, where she cleared 1.78 meters, a height that ties her for third on the school's all-time list with Lindsay Taylor '01 from 1997.
Ury qualified for the finals of the 60m hurdles where she finished in seventh place overall. In the prelims, Ury set a new PR of 8.65 seconds, which moves her from ninth to seventh on the school's all-time list.
Makaya Fofana and Adrienne Usher also set new personal-records in the 60 meter hurdles for the Bears.
Emma Gallant (7.79) and Ury (7.87) both set new PRs in the 60 meter dash. Anjoli Mathew turned in PRs in both of her events on the day, including the 60 meters (8.00) and the 400 meters (57.09), where she finished just off the podium in fourth place overall. Gallant also added her second PR of the day in the 400 meter finals, finishing eighth overall in 59.03.
All three of the Bears runners set new personal-bests in the mile, including Katie Orchard who took second place, Grace Dorantes in third, and Sara Perez in fourth.
Lauren Yeboah-Kodie took second place at 12.61 meters of the triple jump. Nene Mokonchu and Rudecia Bernard tied for fourth in the high jump at 1.65m. Jada Joseph took eighth place in the long jump at 5.73 meters and Zoe Tsoukas leapt 5.66 meters.
In the throws, Kendra Ezeama took third place overall in the shot put, taking bronze with a mark of 13.78m.
The Bears will split for a pair of meets next weekend with the David Hemery Valentine Invitational at Boston University on Friday-Saturday, Feb. 10-11, and the Giegengack Invitational at Yale on Saturday the 11th.
