Softball Drops Weekend Finale to North Dakota State

AUBURN, Ala. – Brown softball dropped a 2-0 game to North Dakota State on Sunday morning to close out play at the Auburn Plainsman Invitational.
Brown (1-4) finished the game with six hits, led by two each from Meghan Gormley and Dara English. Both Moe Kastens and Brianna Rodriguez also had a hit.
Alexis Guevara (0-2) threw a complete game, allowing just two runs on six hits to go along with six strikeouts.
The Bears got a runner in scoring position in the first and loaded the bases with one out in the second after singles by English and Kastens and a walk by Jasmine Hsiao but Brown was kept off the board both times by North Dakota State (6-7).
Guevara got out of a jam in the second with the first two runners reaching to keep the game scoreless. The Bison got to Guevara in the next inning after a walk led to a two-out home run.
Gormley singled with two outs in the fifth but a line out by Rodriguez ended the inning.
North Dakota State put runners put runners on the corners with two outs but Guevara got a fly out to center to keep the Bears down two.
Brown got runners in scoring position in both the sixth and the seventh but were not able to come up with a hit to bring home a run.
UP NEXT
Brown will return to the field next weekend taking part in the I-75 Tournament in Atlanta from Friday (March 3) to Sunday (March 5). The Bears will play Georgia State, Kennesaw State, Southern Miss and Georgia Tech during the trip.
