PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Brown women's hockey team celebrated its senior class of Eva Durandeau, Vivian Lu and Madie Stockfish before taking on Dartmouth in the season finale Saturday. The Big Green came away with a 2-1 win.
Freshman Ellie Gauvin notched her second goal of the year from sophomore's Anna Hurd and Anna Shelden for the Bears, who finish the year with a 9-19-1 record and 7-15-0 in the ECAC. It was the winningest season since 2006-07 and freshman Jade Iginla capped off the year with 17 goals and six assists for 23 points.
"It's been an up-and-down season," said Head Coach Melanie Ruzzi. " We've played well, we've grinded and we've played to our identity for the vast majority of the season through lots of injuries and changing lineups. At the end of the day our record is the best its been in over a decade so It's a building block. Last year was a step forward and this year was a big step forward and we will continue to grow with recruiting and developing our players."
With no scoring through the first two periods, Dartmouth got on the board first with 14:48 on the clock in the third. Gauvin evened the game at the 7:25 mark, but the Big Green got the game winner a minute later to steal the win from the Bears.
Brown will now prepare for the 2023-24 season.
