PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Brown women's hockey suffered a 3-1 defeat to No. 14 Yale on Saturday on the front end of a back-to-back against the Bulldogs.
The Bears drop to 5-8-1 and 4-6-1 in the ECAC, while the Bulldogs improve to 7-6-0 and 6-5-0 in the conference.
Senior Anna Shelden found the back of the net for Brown for her second goal of the season. Senior Kaley Doyle finished with 24 saves in the contest.
"We need to wash this down," said Head Coach Melanie Ruzzi. "It's a rare opportunity that you get to play the same opponent on back-to-back days so we will move on to tomorrow and put our best foot forward."
Yale picked up the first goal of the game at the 12:06 mark of the first when senior Elle Hartje scored from junior Vita Poniatovskaia. Shelden then tied the game at one less than two minutes later on assists from seniors Anna Gallagher and Maya Mangiafico.
Yale's sophomore Jordan Ray put the Bulldogs on top for good on a power-play goal in the final minute of the period from junior Tijana Miskovic. The third Yale goal came early in the second from freshman Stephanie Stainton with helpers from Harttje and sophomore Carina DiAntonio.
Brown plays the regular season finale at Yale on Sunday at 3 p.m.
