PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown University associate head coach Raleigh DeRose was hired to lead the Illinois State Soccer program, announced ISU on Wednesday evening.
A two-time member of the United Soccer Coaches East Region Staff of the Year, including this season, DeRose spent eight seasons on College Hill, three as an associate head coach.
"I'm so happy for Raleigh and her next steps in her career as head coach at Illinois State," said Brown head coach Kia McNeill. "She was an integral part of building our championship culture here with Brown Women's Soccer, and she has poured so much into this program over the years. Her work ethic, competitiveness, drive, and motivational skills are the qualities that made her an incredible associate head coach here, and those are the same qualities that are going to allow her to be successful in running her own program. She is more than ready for this opportunity and I can't wait to cheer her and Illinois State on from afar. I want to thank Raleigh for all she has done here at Brown, and I wish her, Phil, and Anna all the best."
The Bears won four Ivy League championships, including going undefeated in league play since 2019, competed in four NCAA Tournaments, and received national recognition with rankings as high as No. 5 (2023 RPI). Eight members of the team were awarded All-Ivy recognition, including the first-ever Ivy League three-time Offensive Player of the Year Brittany Raphino. Raphino received All-American recognition for the third time and was a MAC Hermann Award Semi-Finalist for the second time.
During the 2016-17 season, DeRose was selected to the 30 Under 30 Program by the United Soccer Coaches.
"I want to express a sincere gratitude to Kia McNeill and Brown University," said DeRose. "I am exceedingly grateful for Kia's mentorship and guidance as well as for the unwavering support from Brown University."
The dynasty began in 2019 as the Bears set program records for wins in a season (14), home wins (11) and shutouts (13) while winning the first of four consecutive Ivy championships and appearing in their first NCAA contest since 1994. For their efforts, Brown's coaching staff was named United Soccer Coaches East Region Staff of the Year.
