Men's Water Polo Beats MIT, Falls By One to Harvard

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Brown men's water polo beat MIT and lost a close battle to Harvard on Saturday as NWPC play came to a close.
The Bears began their day beating MIT 9-7. Brown came up just short in the nightcap falling to Harvard 14-13.
BROWN 9, MIT 7
Brown began its day with a 9-7 win over MIT as Máté Tymcyna, Gabe Chang and Ilias Stothart all scored twice.
The Bears took control early as Brown outscored MIT 5-2 in the first quarter. Tymcyna scored twice with Chang, Stothart and Jaxson Tierney all scoring once.
Goran Narancic and Chang added goals in the second quarter and Stothart and Thomas Hoffmeister scored in the third to put Brown up 9-5.
HARVARD 14, BROWN 13
The Bears got five goals from Stothart and three from Tymcyna but fell just short of a big win at Harvard.
The Bears built a 4-2 lead in the first quarter with two goals by Tymcyna and one each from Stothart and Evan Moore. Brown scored four goals in the second with two from Stothart and one each from Chang and Trey Rogers to hold an 8-7 lead at the half.
Brown went up 10-7 in the third after goals from Chang and Stothart but the Crimson outscored Brown 4-1 the rest of the way in the third to make it a tie game going to the fourth.
Harvard scored the first two goals of the final quarter before Tymcyna and Narancic scored to tie the game with just under three minutes left. Both teams were held scoreless until Harvard netted the game winning goal with 19 seconds left.
UP NEXT
Brown will be at home for its final weekend of the regular season. The Bears will host Fordham and Connecticut College on Saturday as they prepare for the NWPC Tournament.
