PROVIDENCE, R.I.- The Brown women's hockey team beat the Rensselaer Engineers 3-2 at home on Friday night.
RPI scored first, but the Bears were quick to respond. Jess Ciarrocchi scored at the end of the first period to tie things up with a score of 1-1. The Bears and Engineers held each other off of scoring for the whole second period. "I think the biggest part of this game was blocking shots. We have players up and down the lines blocking shots," Head Coach Melanie Ruzzi said.
As the third period began, RPI netted a second goal. A turnover from the Engineers' goalie led to a goal from Jade Iginla to tie the game up once again. With six minutes left in regulation, Ellie Gauvin scored to give Brown the upper hand, and ultimately win the game. "We weren't perfect by any means, and we have some things we have to certainly tidy up. But to find a way to come back from being down twice. Then to close it out," Ruzzi said. This marks the Bears' fourth win this season.Â
Brown returns to Meehan Auditorium on Saturday at 3pm to take on Union College.
