Women’s Hockey Completes Weekend Sweep

PROVIDENCE, R.I.- The Brown women's hockey team completed their weekend sweep after shutting out the Union College Dutchwomen 2-0 at home on Saturday afternoon.
The first period left both teams scoreless with seven shots on goal for Union, and four for Brown. At the end of the second period, Margot Norehad scored a power play goal to give Brown the lead. Jade Iginla and India McDadi are credited with the assists. Midway through the third period, India McDadi gave the Bears their second goal with an assist from Gali Levy. "I think this was a different kind of game. It wasn't clean, it wasn't pretty for a lot of the game. So fighting through some penalty kills, blocking shots again, and finding a way to score when we weren't having things go our way was really important," Head Coach Melanie Ruzzi said regarding the win.
Goaltender Kaley Doyle saved all 26 shots that she faced from Union. Defense remained strong throughout the game with a total of 18 blocked shots by the Bears. "It ended with the shut out which was nice for Doyle to have a finish that way, but I think a big part of the shutout was the players blocking shots, and playing good defense," said Ruzzi. The Bears are now 5-5-0 this season.
Brown will travel to Potsdam, N.Y. to face the Clarkson University Golden Knights on Friday, November 17.
