Men's Water Polo Earns Two NWPC Wins Over LIU and Iona

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown men's water polo collected two conference wins, beating LIU and Iona on Sunday. The Bears started the day with an 18-9 win over the Sharks and finished with a 15-10 win over the Gaels.
BROWN 18, LONG ISLAND 9
Brown we led by five goals from Ilias Stothart and Thomas Hoffmeister, Jasxon Tierney and Máté Tymcyna each had three goals in the victory.
The Bears jumped on LIU early, scoring eight goals in the first quarter and holding an 8-1 lead. Stothart, Tymcyna and Tierney all scored twice in the first eight minutes and Hoffmeister and Gabe Chang each scored once.
Brown outscored Long Island 8-6 over the next two quarters and added two more goals in the fourth.
BROWN 15, IONA 10
Chang finished the night with a game-high five goals and both Tierney and Goran Narancic had three goals.
Brown trailed 2-1 in the first before Chang netted one and Narancic scored twice, all under two minutes to give Brown a 4-2 lead. Chang added two more goals in the second and Brown led 7-6 at halftime.
The Bears stretched their lead to two after three quarters as Tierney scored twice. Brown dominated in the fourth, outscoring Iona 4-1 in the final frame.
UP NEXT
Brown will hit the road next Saturday (Nov. 4) as Brown will finish up conference play with games at MIT and Harvard.
