PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown Bears (6-9, 1-5 Ivy League) dropped the non-conference finale at Providence College on Tuesday, falling 3-1 to the Friars (10-6, 3-3 Big East) at Lennon Family Field.

After a scoreless opening quarter, the Friars struck for a pair of goals 3:51 apart in the second to take a 2-0 lead into the halftime break. Marley Mailloux and Lily Procaccianti found the back of the net for PC.

Brown goalkeeper Ella Edmonds (7 saves), making her third straight start, recorded three saves in the first half.

Lexi Pellegrino recorded her seventh goal of the season to cut PC's lead to one with 9:29 remaining in the game. The sophomore forced a turnover and beat Providence goalkeeper Asia Porter (5 saves).

The Friars re-claimed a two-goal lead as Procaccianti tallied her second of the game with 7:24 remaining.

Shots were close as Providence finished the night with an 11-9 advantage. PC also held a 5-3 edge in penalty corners.

Brown closes the 2023 campaign at noon on Saturday with a trip to Philadelphia to take on the Penn Quakers (6-8, 4-2 Ivy League). Saturday's game will stream on ESPN+.
