Field Hockey Drops Season Finale at Penn

PHILADELPHIA – Lexi Pellegrino tallied her eighth goal of the season to give the Brown Bears (6-10, 1-6 Ivy League) a 1-0 lead in the third quarter, but the Penn Quakers (7-8, 5-2 Ivy League) tallied the final two goals to take a 2-1 home win in Brown's 2023 season finale.

Brown and Penn played a scoreless opening half with both goalies making early saves. Brown's Kylee Del Monte (8 saves) recorded three saves in the half in her return to the lineup. Penn's Frederique Wollaert (5 saves) had one stop.

Lexi Pellegrino pushed her goal streak to three games with 3:49 remaining in the third quarter. The sophomore collected a stretch pass from Katie McCallum and blasted a quick shot from the top of the circle to beat Wollaert.

Penn's Allison Kuzyk tied the game less than two minutes later, taking a quick shot off a Penn penalty corner.

Del Monte and Wollaert traded saves just 15 seconds apart to keep the game tied in the opening minute of the fourth quarter.

Kuzyk broke through the defense with ten minutes remaining in the fourth and recorded her second goal of the afternoon to give the Quakers a 2-1 lead.

Brown pushed offensively looking to force overtime, but the held off the Bears for the one-goal win.
