Women's Hockey Drops Close Contest at No. 6 Quinnipiac

HAMDEN, Conn. -Â Brown women's hockey (1-2-0, 0-1-0 ECAC) played a gritty game against No. 6 Quinnipiac (7-0-0, 1-0-0 ECAC), but fell 1-0Â at M&T Bank Arena on Friday night.
Senior goalie Kaley Doyle was one save shy of her career high with 43 on the night. Keeping things scoreless through the first two periods of action, Doyle notched 13 saves in the first, 11 in the second and 19 in the third.
Brown threatened with 10 shots in the first and second periods. Freshman Ava DeCoste, sophomore India McDadi and senior Anna Shelden had two shots each in the first 40 minutes.
The Bears had four more shots on goal to begin the third period that were all denied. Quinnipiac struck at the 6:38 mark when senior Nina Steigauf scored with assists from grad student Julia Nearis and senior Maddy Samoskevich.
Sophomores Ellie Gauvin, Jade Iginla and India McDadi, senior Anna Gallagher, and freshman Margot Norehad each had shots in the final minutes, but all were saved.
Brown makes the trip to No. 14 Princeton for a Saturday night game at 6 p.m.
