Sailing claims second, trio of fourth place finishes on opening weekend

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown sailing teams competed in four events on the opening weekend of their seasons this weekend. The Bears compiled one second place and three fourth place finishes across the four events.

Of the three events for the coed team, its top finish came at the Harry Anderson Trophy. There, the Bears finished second out of 18. Connor Nelson and Helen Horangic took fourth in Division A, while Liam O'Keefe and Nora Ong also took fourth in Division B. Their combined scores were good for a total score of 158 and second place overall.

At the Pine Trophy, Brown took fourth of eight teams. Guthrie Braun, Hunter Zonnenberg, Tommy Styron, and Hannah Sellers represented the Bears and scored a 34 overall.

At the third coed event of the weekend, Bears teams took fourth (William George and Emily Rosenthal), fifth (Leyton Borcherding and Caroline Keeffe-Jones), seventh (Mason Stang and Sierra Bornheim), and 13^th (Connor Macken and Janelle Li) out of 18 teams.

In the lone women's team event of the weekend, Brown took fourth and ninth out of 18. For the fourth-place team, Blaire McCarthy and Olivia Miller took third in Division A and Brielle Willoughby and Emi Ruth came in third in Division B. Charlotte Costikyan, Lily Shore, Isabel Cox, Emily Mueller, Francesca Edmands, Catherine Morrissette competed for Brown as the second Bears team.
