2022-23: Named an All-American Crew … Named an All-NEISA First Team Crew … Named to Academic All-Ivy Team … Represented Brown at the Women’s and Open Fleet Race Nationals, helped the Bears place 12th and sixth respectively … Represented Brown at the Open Team Race Nationals, helped the Bears place third … Helped Brown place first at the Danmark Trophy and the Admirals Cup … Competed during a total of 19 weekends for the Bears throughout the season.
2021-22: Helped Brown Place fifth at the Women’s Fleet Race Nationals … Helped Brown place fourth at the Women’s Team Race Nationals … Helped Brown win the Duplin Women’s Team Race … Also competed during the weekends of Sept. 18, Oct. 2, Oct. 9, Oct. 16, Oct. 30, March 5, March 19, April 2, and April 9.
2020-21: Raced with Bears 2 against Rhode Island (Apr. 24) and Tufts (May 14) … Competed with Bears 6 against USCGA (May 15) … Season shortened due to COVID-19.
Before Brown: Earned varsity letters all four years … Captained team as a senior … Raced for head coach Emma Vogel … Sailed at the Conanicut Yacht Club in Jamestown, R.I. … Won the CYC Club 420 Racing Instructor’s Award … Gained first place at the CYC Club 420 Championship and second place at the NBYA Club 420 Junior Sailing Championship … Also competed in tennis for head coach Tim O’Neil … Principal’s Honor Roll and National Honor Society student.
Personal: Nora is the daughter of Pamela Boylan Ong and Warren Ong; Pamela graduated from Brown in 1984 and Warren completed his medical residency through Brown in 1996 … Has one sibling, Alex … Plans to concentrate in Public Policy and Economics and pursue a career as an environmental policymaker.
Why Brown? “I chose Brown for many reasons, such as its great academic programs and opportunities, the beautiful campus and sailing center at Edgewood Yacht Club, and because it has been an important part of my life from a young age, as I have grown up seeing the positive impact that a Brown education provides.”
