Borcherding wins NEISA Singlehanded Championship, Doble takes second

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Leyton Borcherding won the NEISA Singlehanded Championship and Katherine Doble finished as the runner-up in the NEISA Women's Singlehanded Championship, highlighting a strong weekend for the Brown sailing teams.
Borcherding finished with a final score of 61, on point ahead of a Yale sailor in second place. Connor Nelson, last year's NEISA Singlehanded Champion, finished in third with a 68 and Guthrie Braun took fourth with a 71.
In the women's event, a sailor from Harvard took first with a 23, while Doble claimed second with a 26. Kaitlyn Hamilton, the only other Bear in the event, took fifth with a 52.
The coed team also competed at the Hatch Brown Trophy and the Yale Regatte on the weekend. At Hatch Brown, the Bears finished in 11th out of 18 teams. Hunter Zonnenberg, Isabel Cox, Liam O'Keefe, Nora Ong, William George, and Helen Horangic all competed for Brown at the event.
The Yale Regatta was split into two events. In the FJ Regatta, Tommy Styron and Hannah Sellers had the top finish on the team in fifth out of 18. Charlotte Costikyan and Lily Shore finished in sixth, Mason Stang and Catherine Morrissette in ninth, Emily Mueller and Brianna Ross in 10th, and Connor Macken and Janelle Li in 16th.
In the Z420 Regatta, Katherine McNamara and Francesca Edmands came in eighth, while Caroline Keefe-Jones and Sierra Bornheim finished in 15th.
The women's team also competed at the Regis Trophy on the weekend and finished in fourth place overall out of 18 teams. Blaire McCarthy and Savannah Young took sixth in Division A, while Brielle Willoughby and Olivia Miller came in fourth in Division B.
