Brett Frood '97 Named Commissioner of National Lacrosse League

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Former Brown men's lacrosse captain Brett Frood '97 was tabbed as the next Commissioner of the National Lacrosse League, announced by the League earlier Tuesday.
Frood begins his new role on September 1 as the fifth NLL Commissioner since 1997.
The former Bear has served as the President of Stewart-Haas Racing for the last 14 years. Prior to his role with the pre-eminent NASCAR team, Frood worked on Wall Street before attending Harvard Business School.
The Elbridge, New York native was a 2012 Forty Under 40 honoree from The Sports Business Journal.
During his time on College Hill, Frood helped the Bears win two Ivy League Championships and earn three trips to the NCAA Tournament. In 1994, Frood's freshman season, Brown reached the Final Four for the first time in program history.
Frood captained the Bears and led the squad in scoring as a senior in 1997, finishing the campaign with 33 goals and 39 points. The Bears reached the NCAA Tournament for the third time.
Frood is one of 49 Bears in program history to reach the 50-goal milestone, capping his career with 53 goals in 53 games.
