Softball hosts Harvard for weekend series

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown softball will host its final three home games of the season this weekend with a three-game set against Harvard. The Bears will play a doubleheader against Harvard on Saturday (April 23) and a single game on Sunday (April 24).
The doubleheader on Saturday will begin at 12:30 p.m. and the series finale will begin at 12 p.m. on Sunday (April 24). The Bears will honor their seniors before the game on Sunday. All three games of the series will be streamed on ESPN+.

ABOUT BROWN
The Bears come into the weekend with a 12-21 overall record and a mark of 4-11 in Ivy League play. Brown dropped two of three games against Columbia last weekend.
Graduate Student Katie O'Leary leads the Bears with a .317 batting avearge, .469 on base percentage and a .571 slugging percentage. O'Leary has also driven in a team-high 19 runs and is tied for the team lead with three home runs. O'Leary has been hit by 10 pitches this season, tied for first in the Ivy League.
Seniors Kat Clum and Elayna Tsiouplis are tied for the team lead with 24 hits on the year. Clum leads the team with eight multi-hit games and Tsiouplis is tops on the team with two three-hit games. Both players have driven in double-digit runs with Tsiouplis having driven in 13 and Clum 11.
Brianna Rodriguez sits second on the team with a .311 batting average and .400 on base percentage. Rodriguez leads the team with two triples and is tied for the team lead with six doubles. Rodriguez has also driven in 12 runs.
Leah Carey and Niki Kim are tied for the team lead with 11 stolen bases. Carey is a perfect 11-for-11 on the base paths and Kim is 11-for-13 on the year.
Freshman Alexis Guevara leads the team in the circle with a 2.45 ERA, 60 innings pitched and 52 strikeouts. Guevara is tied for the team lead with Lauren Innerst with four wins. Innerst leads the team with a .220 batting average against.
Freshman Jodie Aguirre had a strong performance in the circle last week for the Bears. Aguirre pitched 11.2 innings, allowing just two runs on eight hits and striking out nine batters.
Brown lost all three meetings against Harvard the last time these two teams met back in 2019. The Bears won the series in 2018, taking two of three games in Providence.
ABOUT HARVARD
Harvard comes into the weekend with a 15-15 record and sits on top of the Ivy League standings with a 9-3 record. The Crimson has won its last three games, sweeping Penn in a weekend series but has not played since April 11.
Morgan Melito leads the Crimson with a .329 average and holds a .439 on base percentage. Melito has a team-high 26 hits and 20 RBI. Melito has also scored 14 runs.
Lauren Bobowski has a team-high 17 runs scored and is 15-for-16 in stolen base attempts.
In the circle, Anna reed leads the staff with a 2.57 ERA, nine wins and 41 strikeouts in a team-high 76.1 innings pitched.
