Women's water polo splits two games on Saturday to end the regular season

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown women's water polo closed out the regular season with a split of two games on Saturday (April 16). The Bears defeated Connecticut College 11-4 before falling to Harvard to close out the day.
"This was a tough loss but we have to be ready to regroup and get ready for Bucknell," said head coach Felix Mercado. "We just couldn't break their press in the second quarter and the game got away from us."
GAME 1: BROWN 11, CONNECTICUT COLLEGE 4
Brown began the day with a strong 11-4 win over Connecticut College. All seven Bears that played in the game scored with Nina Hastings, Brenna Pangelinan, Moe O'Malley and Malia Honda all tallying two goals.
Maya Fleischer had nine saves in goal and finished the game with a goal in the fourth quarter.
Brown took a 4-0 lead in the first quarter with two goals from Honda, plus a goal from Tallulah Clancy and Lucy Gramley. The Bears picked up a goal early in the second from Hastings to jump ahead 5-0.
Connecticut College broke the Bears run with a goal but Pangelinan and O'Malley responded with goals as Brown led 7-2 at halftime.
Goals from Hastings and O'Malley made the score 9-2 after three quarters. Brown got goals from Fleischer and Pangelinan in the final quarter.
GAME 2: HARVARD 10, BROWN 6
The Bears fell behind early in the regular season finale against Harvard in a 10-6 loss. The Bears trailed 6-1 at halftime with Zoe King's goal in the first quarter being the lone Brown tally of the first half.
A goal from Sophie Golub made the score 7-2 but Harvard responded with two goals to push the lead to seven. Lily Weiser and Claire Pisani scored back-to-back goals making the score 9-4 but Brown would go scoreless for over six minutes in the fourth quarter, hindering a comeback chance.
The Bears got late goals from Siena Berry and Golub for the final score of 10-6.

Brown will begin the CWPA Tournament against Bucknell on Friday (April 22).
